How to Check Traffic Usage on TP-Link Deco or Tether App
If you want to know how much data your devices are using, the Traffic Usage feature is the easiest way. Some models also support In-depth Statistics, which shows how much data is used by specific apps or categories. This guide explains how to access and use this feature.
Key Takeaways
- The Traffic Usage feature lets you monitor how much data devices on your network are using.
- You can view traffic statistics by Day or Week, and check device-level usage from the client list.
- Some models support In-depth Statistics, which shows traffic broken down by app or category.
- Traffic data is not real-time; expect a delay of 1–5 minutes for updates.
- LAN-to-LAN traffic (e.g., file transfers between devices) is not included in the statistics.
How to Access Traffic Usage on the Deco or Tether App
There are two ways to find the Traffic Usage feature:
Method 1: Go to Network > Traffic Usage.

Method 2: Go to Network > (Online) Clients > Tap a device > Traffic Usage.

Feature Overview
The Traffic Usage page shows traffic data by Day or Week. Models with In-depth Statistics also allow you to see app-level traffic.
Day & Week View
In Day or Week view, you can see:
Hourly (Day view) or daily (Day view) download and upload traffic over the last 7 days (Day view, including today) or last 4 weeks (Week view, including the current week)
A toggle to show: Only Download, Only Upload, or Both.
A ranking of all devices by traffic usage, with percentage.
A device’s own traffic usage by tapping it.

In-depth Statistics View
Note: This feature is not available on all models. Check your app page for accuracy.
In-depth Statistics is disabled by default. To enable it, go to the Traffic Usage page, click the three-dot icon > Settings, and toggle it on.

Once enabled, tap a device on the ranking list to see:
Hourly or daily download and upload traffic for that device
A toggle to show: Only Download, Only Upload, or Both
A ranking of apps or categories by traffic usage
You can also share the traffic report at any time.

Q&A
Q1: Why is my web browsing traffic recorded under "APP" in Traffic Statistics?
This is normal. Traffic usage is classified based on domain names. When you access a service like YouTube via a browser or an app, both use the same domain (e.g., youtube.com). The system merges this traffic into one category. Even if the app is not open, background access to the same domain may still be counted under that app's traffic.
Q2: Do traffic usage statistics cover all networks (Main, Guest, and IoT)?
Yes, the system records traffic from all connected devices, regardless of which network they are on. However, smart home devices like cameras do not support In-depth Statistics, even if the main Deco or router does.
Q3: I just generated some traffic, but it hasn't appeared yet. What is the delay?
Traffic usage data is not updated in real time. To ensure system performance, data is reported in batches at regular intervals. A delay of 1–5 minutes is normal. Please wait and refresh the page to see the latest statistics.
Q4: Why is LAN traffic (e.g., file transfers between devices) not shown?
The Traffic Usage feature focuses on Internet (WAN) traffic. Local communication between devices within your LAN—such as file transfers or screen casting—does not pass through the router's Internet statistics module, so it is not included.
