How to unbind the account (TP-Link ID) with TP-Link router/Deco

If you find yourself needing to unbind your TP-Link account from your TP-Link Wi-Fi router or Deco Mesh System, you can use the steps below to do so. After unbinding, you can re-register the Wi-Fi Router or Deco to another TP-Link account (TP-Link ID).

For Wi-Fi Routers

Method 1: Unbinding via a web-based interface

1. Log in to the web-based interface of the router. Refer to FAQ 87 for instructions if necessary.

2. Navigate to Advanced → TP-Link ID and look for the Bound Accounts section.

3. Check the box(es) of the TP-Link ID(s) you want to remove and click Unbind.

Method 2: Unbinding via the Tether App

1. Log in to the Tether App on your smartphone.

2. Navigate to Tools → TP-Link ID.

3. Tap the three dots to the right of your account, then tap Unbind.

Method 3: Unbinding via Factory Reset

Unbinding can also be achieved by resetting the router to its factory default settings. To factory reset the router, please refer to FAQ 497.

For Deco Mesh Systems

To unbind your Deco Mesh System from your TP-Link Account/ID, factory reset the Deco node(s) and delete the Deco network within the Deco app. The account will now be unbound.
