The Tapo T150 can integrate with third-party smart home platforms through a Tapo Hub. There are two connection methods — Tapo Link (account linking) and Matter — and the available features differ significantly between them.

As third-party smart home ecosystems continue to evolve, feature availability may vary across platforms and connection methods. Please choose the integration method that best fits your needs.

2. The T150 exposes 4 endpoints (EPs) for different sensor types when connected to Home Assistant via Matter. Due to identical serial numbers across endpoints, Home Assistant may recognize them as a single device, allowing only one name to be set across all endpoints.

Q1: Why do features differ for the same platform when connected via Link vs. Matter?

The differences in feature availability between Tapo Link and Matter connections stem from how third-party smart home platforms have currently implemented their integrations. Each platform is at a different stage of ecosystem development, which is why the supported features vary not only across connection methods but also among third-party platforms. These differences reflect the ongoing evolution of each platform's smart home ecosystem rather than any limitation inherent to the T150 itself. As third-party platforms continue to update their ecosystems, the T150 will adapt to support additional features made available through those updates.

For example, the ambient light display is not available on Alexa when connected via Tapo Link, but it becomes available when the T150 is connected to Alexa via Matter. This pattern applies to many features across platforms — Matter typically exposes a richer set of sensor data compared to account linking.
