TP-Link Tapo Launches its First Matter-Certified Smart Plug - Tapo P125M

Irvine, Calif – January 30, 2023 – Tapo®, a TP-Link brand and global provider of smart home products, today launched its first Matter-compatible product, Tapo P125M. Adopting the industry-unifying Matter protocol, the smart plug is powered with convenient connectivity and delivers broad third-party integration.

TP-Link is one of the first companies to obtain the Matter 1.0 certification and one of the few to receive the root certificate issued by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA). The unveiling of Tapo P125M signifies TP-Link making the long-anticipated vision of a seamless smart home a reality.

With detailed in-app instructions, TP-Link users can take advantage of a frustration-free setup, utilizing Bluetooth to easily onboard the smart plug within a few steps. On top of that, Tapo P125M provides a streamlined third-party integration solution with Matter that bridges the gap between ecosystems and standardizes the setup process. Fire up any standard-compliant app, scan the provided QR code, and the configuration is nearly complete.

The ultimate benefit of the Matter protocol lies in seamless interoperability. All Matter-certified devices on a  local area network (LAN) will work smoothly even when the user’s home internet goes offline. Once configured, communication and control between Matter devices can be achieved directly on the local network.

Tapo P125M, similar to other Tapo smart plugs, supports control via the Tapo app and voice assistants. With Matter, users are no longer limited to specific smart home platforms. The Matter-compatible Tapo P125M works with nearly all certified smart home platforms, such as Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Samsung SmartThings.

Furthermore, the smart plug can interact with numerous certified smart devices from other manufacturers, providing a personalized and unified smart home experience. With the Multi-Admin capability of Matter, users can share management permissions of Tapo P125M with family members via different ecosystems.

Tapo P125M provides scheduling and creates scenes with a wider range of smart devices. The Tapo app offers functions that go beyond the usual Matter repertoire. Users can control Tapo P125M from anywhere via the Tapo app. Additionally, its Auto-Off Timer supports automatically turning off connected devices when the Tapo P125M is left on for a set time.
