TP-Link Officially Passed Matter 1.0 Certification with More Matter-Certified Products to Come

November 14th, 2022 — TP-Link, a leading global provider in the networking and smart home markets, was announced as one of the first companies to receive the Matter 1.0 certification on Nov 3rd by UL Solutions and Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA). TP-Link’s first Matter products have been tested and qualified by the authoritative third-party laboratory and will soon bring tangible benefits to consumers.

Both of TP-Link’s smart home brands, Tapo and Kasa, focus on delivering high-quality products and reliable customer experiences. With a history of stability, performance, and value, Tapo and Kasa offer devices in categories ranging from home security cameras, home robotics, hubs, smart plugs, smart bulbs, and more. By introducing Matter to the lines, TP-Link will bring users seamless interoperability across platforms to enable simpler setups.

Since joining the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), TP-Link has been driving the practical application of the Matter protocol. TP-Link’s first Matter-certified smart plug has now passed UL testing and will go into production in November. By the end of this year or early next year, consumers can purchase TP-Link’s first Matter product.

The first Matter-certified rollout of TP-Link also includes smart power strips, smart switches, smart bulbs, and smart hubs that enable Tapo sensors (not Matter-compatible) to communicate with Matter devices. Additionally, the Tapo and Kasa apps will upgrade to be Matter-compatible, further opening the ecosystem to improve compatibility for users.

    TP-Link's upcoming Matter-certified products

According to CSA, new categories such as robot vacuums, smart home cameras, and smoke detectors will be added to the list of Matter-certified products in 2023. TP-Link is also in the progress of actively broadening the categories of Matter-compatible products.

It is worth noting that TP-Link is the world’s first device manufacturer to have its Product Attestation Authority (PAA) approved by CSA. This not only shows that TP-Link’s products meet the rigorous requirements (particularly regarding data security) of the Matter protocol but also demonstrates TP-Link’s determination in bringing Matter product prototypes to the consumer market.

TP-Link’s effusive involvement fills the ranks of CSA, facilitating the adoption of the Matter protocol in the market. Moving forward, the company will continue to embrace the Matter protocol to unlock the full potential of smart homes.
