Why cannot I turn on the always-on mode on Tapo doorbell?
If you have hardwired your doorbell to your home circuit, you can choose whether to enable Always-On Mode, which supports 24/7 Recording. When Always-On Mode is enabled, your doorbell will actively monitor and capture video at all times, regardless of PIR detection. Recording performance will also be adjusted to the highest level for better detection.
Note: A jumper wire must be installed to enable the always-on mode for 24/7 recording.
However, occasionally, some abnormal conditions may prevent the mode from being enabled, or the mode may become unstable after being enabled.
Here are some inspection and troubleshooting steps.
Step 1: Please verify the transformer specifications and installation, as well as whether the lines are correctly connected. The doorbell must be wired (not battery-powered) and supplied by an 8-24V AC, 10VA minimum transformer.
Step 2: Please refer to the installation guide on the official website to verify that your doorbell is correctly wired into the circuit.
Step 3: Ensure the circuit is not damaged and that there is no poor contact at the connection point.
Step 4: If there's a traditional chime in the line, bypass it with a jumper.
Step 5: Ensure there are no other loads on the line. No other devices should be connected in parallel to the transformer line connected to the doorbell. If there are other loads, remove them and try again.
