How To Connect To The 6 Ghz Band On Windows Laptop

Note:

• As of Q1 2022, Microsoft Windows OS is still not compatible with WiFi 6E - 6 GHz band use. However, Windows users can register with the Microsoft Windows Insider Program for free, and get access to Wi-Fi 6E-enabled drivers. For details on how to participate in the Insider Program & enable the WiFi 6E/6GHz band, please refer to the following FAQ section.
• Upon registration with the Microsoft Windows Insider Program, an Intel® AX210 WLAN Adapter will be made available for installation. Please note that the version number of Intel® AX210 to support WiFi 6E/6GHz band is Windows 10 22.45 or Windows 11 22.70 version. (Currently, this version is only available in Microsoft Windows Insider Program.)
• Further updates of the Windows Software will be notified to existing users automatically in correlation with the regularly scheduled monthly updates.

To register for the Microsoft Windows Insider Program, kindly follow the steps listed below:

Step 1. Sign in or create a new Microsoft account

Please go to Microsoft Insider Website ( https://Insider.windows.com) and create an account for downloading.

• Step 1(a). Please sign in to your Microsoft account.
• Step 1(b). Or create a new account & password, and verify via verification code.

Step 2. Register for the Windows Insider Program

Please go to Microsoft Insider Website (https://Insider.windows.com) and register for the Windows insider program.

• Step 2(a). Please click on “Register”.
• Step 2(b). Check and accept the terms of the agreement, and click on “Register now”
• Step 2(c). Please click on “Flight now”, you are now ready to join the Windows insider program.

Step 3. Get ready for the Windows update

Please go to Microsoft Insider Website (https://Insider.windows.com) and follow by following steps.

• Step 3(a). Please scroll down the webpage, and within the “In Dev Channel” section, please click on “Update now”.
• Step 3(b). Please go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update on your Windows 10 device, and make a Windows update. (For more details may refer to "Start flighting” instructions on Microsoft website)
• Step 3(c). Or you may download Windows 10 ISO file manually. Please go to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-insider/ISOs
• Step 3(c) - 1. Select a Windows 10 edition/language and download.
• Once you have joined Microsoft Windows Insider Program, the Intel® AX210 WLAN card with WiFi6E/6GHz band support by Microsoft OS will be automatically detected by your Windows 10 device, and push notifications to you to agree on Windows update with WiFi6E/6GHz bandsupport. At present, Microsoft Windows OS does not support the WiFi 6E/6GHz band, and it is expected to be supported after 2021/H2.
