After upgrading to version 52 of the Firefox browser, you may find that you cannot access cloud camera’s video via its WEB UI or via TP-Link cloud website (www.tplinkcloud.com) anymore with Firefox browser.

You may encounter the following situations:

1) For example, when you are trying to log in to the WEB UI of NC250 on Firefox browser, and you have downloaded & installed the camera plug-in as required, however, Chrome browser will show you the following error message: “This plug-in is not supported”. As a result, you cannot access your NC250’s video on this Firefox browser.

2) When you are trying to log in to the TP-Link cloud website (www.tplinkcloud.com) on Firefox 52 browser, and you have downloaded & installed the camera plug-in as required, however, there is still the prompt like the following picture shows.

Why does the problem happen?

The problem above will make you unable to access the camera’s video on Firefox 52 browser or later versions any more either via camera’s WEB UI or via TP-Link cloud website. Here is the detailed explanation about this problem:

1) Firefox officially states that Firefox 52 has removed support for Netscape Plugin API (NPAPI) plugins other than Flash.  You can check the following links for more information:

https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2015/10/08/npapi-plugins-in-firefox/

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/52.0/releasenotes/

How to troubleshoot?

For now, there are three methods to solve this problem.

1) You can download and install the latest version of Firefox ESR to access the camera’s video, it will still support the NPAPI plugins.

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/faq/

2) You can try other browsers to access the camera’s video (IE, Opera, Edge, and Chrome). We are truly sorry about the inconvenience caused to you. Your understanding is highly appreciated.

3) Download and install the tpCamera APP on your phone to access the video.

Note:

  1. For NC210/NC260/NC450, there is no same issue when you access the video via WEB UI, because these models do not use the NPAPI plugins.
  2. In future, we will use H5 program to replace the NPAPI plugins, it will be supported by most browsers. And we will update the new info about it in time.
