Different devices occupy different resources of the Hub. The following is the theoretical device limit of the Tapo smart hub:

Camera/Doorbell with continuous recording enabled

IoT Devices

Note:

  • Smart devices with multiple control units, like a 2-gang switch, each control unit is considered as one device in the smart hub’s connection. For example, when adding Tapo S220, a 2-gang smart switch, to the Tapo smart hub, it is counted as two devices.

Temperature sensor is counted as two devices.

Consequently, you may occasionally be unable to add the maximum number of IoT devices to the hub. For instance, when adding 32 Tapo T315 units to a Tapo H100, the Tapo H200 will indicate that it has reached its device limit. This occurs because the Tapo T315, being a temperature sensor, is counted as two devices.

  • You can control multiple hubs from one account. Devices can only be paired to one hub at a time.
  • There are 3 kinds of connection states of the hub: Light, Moderate, and Dense. For optimal performance, avoid connecting more devices when the connection is Dense.
