What should I do if I fail to configure the Kasa Smart Wire-Free system?

The Kasa app will guide you step-by-step during the initial configuration, however, you may not be able to get through all the steps due to some interference. This FAQ will tell you what to do if you have trouble getting through a certain step.

Fail to configure the Kasa hub.

Case 1: No LED on the Kasa hub or the LED is not flashing orange and green.

1) Try a different power adapter or power socket.

2) Ensure the power cord and the Ethernet cable is connected to the Kasa hub tightly.

3) Press and hold on the reset button on the Kasa hub for 15 seconds to reset the hub to factory default settings. Wait till the LED is flashing orange and green and then try again.

Case 2: Got stuck on “Search for Your Hub” and then reported “No Hub Found”.

  • Confirm your Kasa hub is powered on and connected to your router via an Ethernet cable tightly.
  • Ensure your smartphone is connected to the same router as the Kasa hub.
  • Kindly check whether you have connected to Guest Wi-Fi.
  • Check whether the Kasa hub is added to the Blacklist or Whitelist of your router.
  • Kindly check whether you have set a firewall on the router to block the connection in the same network.
  • Try to use a different phone to configure the Kasa hub.

Please note that the LED on the Kasa hub will turn off automatically after the configuration is completed.

Fail to configure the Kasa Wire-Free camera.

Case 1: No LED on the camera or the LED is not flashing orange and green.

1) If the LED is off, press the Sync button for 1s to turn on the camera, or connect the power adapter to the camera.

2) If the LED does not flash orange and green, press the Sync button for 15 seconds to reset the camera to factory default settings.

Note: When you press the Sync button for 5 seconds, you will hear the camera saying “Release to turn off the camera, continue to press to erase all the settings”. The LED flashes blue first, then turns orange. After that, you can release the Sync button.

Case 2: Got stuck on “Searching for Available Hubs” and then reported “Hub Offline”.

1) Move the camera closer to the Kasa hub.

2) Check if the Kasa hub is online or not and ensure the router has internet access.

3) On the phone, go to Settings > WLAN to confirm that the phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi router as the Kasa hub.

4) Try a different phone.

Case 3. Getting stuck on “Press the Sync Button” and then reported “No Camera Found”.

1) Move the camera next to the Kasa hub (no more than three feet).

2) If the camera LED is flashing red, connect the power adapter to it, wait for the LED turns flash orange and green, and then click on “Try Again”.

3) If the LED remains abnormal, press the Sync button for 15 seconds to reset the camera and configure it again.
