This guide is here to make the setup easy for everyone. We’ll walk you through what’s in the box, how the adapter looks, and how to install it and its driver.

To use the adapter, simply plug the adapter into your computer and install the driver. Our driver is designed to work with screen readers and can be installed using just your keyboard!

Part 1. Know about your adapter

This section introduces the adapter's package content and appearance.

1. Unpack Your adapter

Your package contains an adapter, a Resource CD, 2 detachable antennas, a USB Extension Cable and installation guides.

Resource CD: a standard circular thin disc containing drivers for computer installation.

USB Extension Cable:  A 1.5-meter-long cable with a type-A USB connector for your computer's USB port and a smaller micro USB connector for your adapter.

Antennas: Slim, tapered antennas with adjustable joints for better signal reception. Each has a threaded connector at the base for secure attachment to the antenna base.

2. Appearance Introduction

The adapter is a compact, lightweight device. It features a WPS button on its top. Press the button on your router. Within 2 minutes, press and hold the WPS button on the adapter until the WPS Tool opens.

On the front of the adapter, there is a small recessed rectangular port for the USB extension cable’s smaller micro USB connector.

At the back of the adapter, there are two slightly raised circular connector ports that provide connections for external antennas.

Part 2. Get Started

Step 1. Connect your Adapter to a Computer

a. Insert the USB cable’s micro USB connector into the port on the front of the adapter.

b. Then connect the cable’s type-A connector directly into a USB port on your computer.

c. Install the 2 antennas onto the rear of the adapter and adjust them upright for optimal performance.

Step 2. Install Drivers

a. Go to My Computer or This PC.

b. Insert the CD and run the Autorun.exe.

c. Follow the on-screen instruction to separately install the Wi-Fi driver.

d. Once finished, restart your computer.

Note:

•  If you cannot find the setup program, please download the driver at www.tp-link.com/support. You can also check for new releases and download the latest drivers on this website.

•  If an unknown publisher message pops up, select Yes to continue. 

•  If Windows User Account Control requires admin credentials, type user name and password of your Windows administrator account. 

Step 3. Join a Wireless Network

a. Click the network status icon on the taskbar.

b. Select your Wi-Fi network, click Connect, and enter the password when prompted.
