PC Connected to TL-WA850RE Cannot Get Access to Any Website When TL-WA850RE is Connected to BT Home Hub 4.0

Customer Scenario

Internet---BT HUB 4.0))) (((TL-WA850RE-----PC

TL-WA850RE is used to extend the wireless range of BT Home HUB 4.0, and is successfully configured. The LED status are normal and the management page shows it is already connected to BT Home HUB 4.0.

Problem Description

This issue happens only when the Firmware version of BT Home HUB 4.0 is upgraded to 4.7.5.1.83.8.130.1.10, old versions such as 4.7.5.1.83.8.130.1.5.1.1 doesn’t encounter such issue.

When opening any web page on PC, the page cannot open and usually shows redirected to a URL loop such as below.

Root cause of the problem

We haven’t found the root cause yet. And we’ll contact BT, and work together with them to solve this.

Temporary Solutions

Solution 1(Recommended):

Please upgrade your TL-WA850RE to the TL-WA850RE_V1.2_130922, you can download it from :

support/download/?model=TL-WA850RE&version=V1#tbl_j

When finished, please reset your BT Hub 4 and reconfigure it.

Solution 2:

Please follow FAQ173 to set Static LAN IP on TL-WA850RE, then go to DHCPàDHCP setting, and disable the DHCP server.

When setting the Static IP, please make sure the IP Address is under the same network segment with BT Home HUB 4.0. For example, if the LAN IP of BT Home HUB 4.0 is 192.168.1.254, you can set it as below:

Solution 3:

Please follow FAQ14 to set Static IP/Gateway/DNS on wireless clients. You can set Gateway as the LAN IP of BT Home HUB 4.0, and DNS as 8.8.8.8.

For example, if the LAN IP of BT Home HUB 4.0 is 192.168.1.254, you can set it as below:
