How do I turn on/off 24/7 Continuous Capture? + −
- Go to the “Device Settings” page in the Tapo app.
- Tap “24/7 Capture.”
- If this is your first time configuring 24/7 Capture, tap “Start 24/7 Capture.” Otherwise, tap “Enable 24/7 Capture.”
- Tap “24/7” or tap “Replace the current Detection Recording schedule” to enter the 24/7 Capture settings and configure to your exact liking.

Can 24/7 Continuous Capture be used without an SD card or Hub storage? + −
No. Requires SD card for full functionality. Only video that triggers detection is saved to Tapo Care, and playback of 24/7 Capture viewed by Tapo Care has the same effect as Detection Recording. Pictures from regular captures are not stored in Tapo Care.
How do I view the footage? + −
Use the timeline in the Tapo app to scroll through continuous capture and jump into motion events.
What are the effects of enabling 24/7 Continuous Capture? + −
After enabling 24/7 Continuous Capture, the detection range will be extended, the battery life may be altered, and events outside the original PIR detection range may also be detected. At this time, it is recommended to set the detection area or adjust the installation position to increase the battery level.
How does 24/7 Continuous Capture extend my detection range? + −
By continuously capturing frames and analyzing them in real time, 24/7 Continuous Capture goes beyond PIR-triggered limits and enables longer-range, more reliable detection.
