Setup Guide
Tapo L901-6 Dual Motion Sensor Smart Wi-Fi Light Strip
Welcome to the setup guide.
To ensure equal access for all users, we offer this accessible setup guide. This guide is designed to meet accessibility needs, enabling a successful setup. It will introduce the appearance of your motion and light sensor, and light strip, including its connectors, buttons, and labels, and then guide you through the setup process.
Step 1. Know about Your Sensor and Light Strip
In the package, you will find the motion and light sensors, CR2450 batteries, light strip, controller, and power adapter.
Motion and Light Sensor: A small, square-shaped device with rounded edges. Its front side has a round, ball-like sensor sticking out of the middle, with a small indicator light above it. The opposite side is flat and meant to go against a wall or surface, with a built-in magnet that allows you to attach it magnetically to metallic objects.
Battery Insulation Tab: When holding the sensor and facing its front side toward you, you can feel along the flat bottom edge for a small, rectangular plastic part that sticks out. This is the insulation tab. Removing the insulation tab powers up your sensor.
CR2450 Battery: You can replace the CR2450 battery that is inside the motion and light sensor.
Light Strip: The strip is a flexible ribbon that comes rolled up. One side has many small evenly spaced bumps (the LEDs), and the other side is smooth with a peel‑off adhesive liner. One end of the light strip with a connector plugs into the controller.
Controller: A small rectangular inline box that connects the strip to power. It has a short cable on one end that accepts the strip connector and a round power port on the other end for the power adapter. When holding the controller box, you can feel a round button near the power port end, which is the power button.
Power Button: When the light strip is powered on, press the button to turn it on or off. To reset the light strip, press and hold the button for at least 10 seconds.
Power Adapter: The power adapter is usually a rectangular or square block with a cord on one end that plugs into the controller's power port.
Next, take out all the parts and spread the light strip on a flat surface, like a shelf or desktop.
Step 2. Connect the Hardware and Power Up
1. Plug the connector end of the light strip into the cable end of the controller. Make sure the arrows on both ends line up. You can feel the arrow the controller end, and the light strip's arrow side is the one with the LEDs. Please do not force it.
2. Plug the power adapter into the controller's power port.
3. Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet. Wait 2 minutes for the light strip to start up.
3. Gently but firmly pull the insulation tab straight down, away from the sensor. It should slide out easily, powering up the device.
Step 3. Set Up the Light Strip
1. Get the Tapo app from the App Store or Google Play, and log in.

2. Tap the + button in the app and select your product model. Follow the app instructions to complete setup.
