General questions about Tapo C410 KIT
Part 1. Basic Information
Q1: Is the Tapo C410 KIT waterproof?
A1: Yes, waterproof rubbers and gaskets make the device IPX5 waterproof:
- Do not tear off the silicone part by force, as it may affect the waterproof performance.
- Keep the ports firmly covered when not in use.
- Install the waterproof gasket in the Tapo C410 charging port before connecting the solar panel.
Q2: Can the battery of the Tapo C410 be removed?
A2: The battery cannot be removed. It can be used in conjunction with solar panels to provide continuous charging, eliminating the risk of running out of electricity.
Q3: How long is the charging cord for the Tapo A201 solar panel?
A3: Charging cord length is 25cm, and can be extended with the 380 cm long Tapo A201 extension cord in the package.
Q4: Does the camera use a PIR sensor?
A4: Indeed, PIR sensors are used by the Tapo C410 to sense movement and wake up. The PIR's effective awakening distance from the front is approximately 8 meters at maximum sensitivity. Please tilt the camera downward at an angle of about 20°; excessive tilt will significantly reduce the PIR's effective range.
Q5: Does the camera have to be connected to the router's Wi-Fi or the Hub?
A5: The camera can only connect to the router's 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and does not require a Hub connection.
Q6: Why can’t I find the Vehicle/Pet Detection and detection Tag feature in my C410 V2, but I can find them in my C410 V1?
A6: The Vehicle/Pet Detection and detection Tag function in V1 were experimental bonus features, not the officially supported or advertised core functions for C410.
With version 2, we updated the hardware to enhance the camera performance and reliability, which may cause compatibility issues with these features. After careful evaluation, the bonus detection features have been streamlined or removed to ensure basic stability and a good user experience.
Part 2. Power Related
Q1: How long does it take for the solar panel to charge the camera fully?
A1: The amount of sunshine has an impact on how long it takes to charge. If the solar panel is functioning properly and receives enough sunlight, it takes two to three days for the camera to charge when it is switched off fully.
Q2: How long can the camera work without utilizing a power source after it is fully charged?
A2: Battery life of up to 180 days is based on TP-Link’s laboratory testing, triggering 10–20 events per day. Actual battery life may vary based on device settings, use, and environmental factors.
Note: To extend battery life, it is not recommended to point the camera at the street, road, or other areas that cause it to wake up frequently, as this would significantly drain the battery's capacity.
Q3: How long can the camera work with the Tapo A201 solar panel connected when it's raining or cloudy outside?
A3: The solar panel is essentially unable to collect solar energy to power the camera on rainy days. Depending on the amount of light, how often the camera wakes up, and other factors, it varies on cloudy days.
Q4: Aside from the Tapo A201 solar panel, can other solar panels or USB charging devices be used to charge the camera?
A4: The C410 can be powered by USB Type-C charging devices and solar panels with a regulated 5V output. With a 5V1A USB adapter, the Tapo C410 takes 7.5 hours to charge from 0% to 100%.
Note: We always recommend using our official device for charging. If you use a third-party solar panel or charging device, we cannot guarantee the waterproof performance, etc. The charging time data is from the laboratory; actual times may vary.
Part 3. Video Related
Q1: Does the camera support ONVIF or RTSP?
A1: RTSP and ONVIF are not supported by the C410.
Q2: Is it possible for the camera to record continuously?
A2: No, even with an SD card inserted, the camera cannot record continuously. Continuous recording consumes power quickly and will require frequent charging of the battery. We recommend purchasing a non-battery model if you want to record continuously.
Q3: Is it possible for the camera to capture video even when it isn't connected to the internet?
A3: Yes, the camera can continue to record video to the SD card even when it is not connected to the internet.
