TP-Link Appoints First-ever Indian CEO for India, Underscores Long-term Bet on the Country’s Digital Future
~ Sanjay Sehgal elevated as Chief Executive Officer; signals a new era of growth, localization, and leadership for the world’s No. 1 Wi-Fi brand in India
National, April 28, 2025: TP-Link India today announced the appointment of its first-ever Indian Chief Executive Officer. Sanjay Sehgal, who has played a pivotal role in scaling the company’s footprint as Chief Operating Officer, assumes the CEO and Managing Director mantle effective immediately.
This elevation marks a major milestone for TP-Link India — a subsidiary of TP-Link Systems Inc., headquartered in the United States — as the company doubles down on its ambitions in India’s rapidly evolving digital ecosystem. The leadership transition comes at a time when TP-Link is not only expanding its dominance in consumer networking but also aggressively investing in enterprise infrastructure, manufacturing, and smart IoT solutions tailored for India.
Bijoy Alaylo, a long-time TP-Link executive and the former Vice President for SOHO and Surveillance, will take on the role of Chief Operating Officer following Sehgal’s elevation.
Sehgal’s appointment is emblematic of TP-Link’s commitment to being a “built in India, built for India” organization. Under his leadership as COO, TP-Link has established domestic manufacturing capabilities, expanded distribution into Tier 2 and 3 cities, and launched localization initiatives across supply chain and service support.
“I’ve had the privilege of being part of TP-Link India’s evolution from a nimble challenger to a market leader. This new chapter is not just about growth, it’s about contributing meaningfully to India’s digital infrastructure and innovation story,” said Sanjay Sehgal, CEO, TP-Link India. “We are fully aligned with the Government’s Digital India vision and are proud to play our role in it.”
TP-Link India has long led the consumer networking space with its routers, but its ambitions stretch far beyond home connectivity. The company is now making strong inroads into enterprise-grade networking (via Omada), surveillance infrastructure (through VIGI), and smart home products (Tapo), making it a full-stack player in digital connectivity.
Sehgal brings over two decades of cross-functional experience in telecom, sales, and business development. His elevation, alongside Alaylo’s new mandate, reflects TP-Link’s belief in home-grown leadership as a critical pillar of its India strategy.
Note to editor:
TP-Link India is the country's largest provider of consumer Wi-Fi routers, with a market share of over 24% in the WLAN segment, according to IDC. TP-Link operates through a multi-tier distribution network with presence in over 100 cities, supported by more than a dozen regional service centres in metros and key Tier 2 locations such as Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Kochi, and Bhubaneswar. It has recently scaled domestic manufacturing through a partnership with Optiemus Electronics in Greater Noida in addition to its partnership with Pacific Cyber Tech (PCT) based out of Daman and Silvassa, targeting six million devices annually under the “Make in India” initiative.
