To provide Internet access for islet, traditional method is laying of submarine cable, which is expensive in practice. At present, tp-link provides another way to build up wireless connection between land and islet.

What are the basic needs of the network for Islet Internet access?

Normally, a network for Islet Internet access should meet the following needs:

  1. Requirement for long distance data transmission and high signal strength.
  2. Device should have protection from harsh outdoor environment, with lightning protection and water proof.
  3. Device should support PoE power supply and be flexible for outdoor deployment.
  4. Convenient in maintenance; with tools for central management, configuration, and real-time devices status monitoring.

What kind of solution can meet the needs of the Islet network?

Here we provide a full solution including the network topology, product features and parameters.

What are the highlights of this solution?

This solution adopts TP-LINK Pharos WBS + Dish Antenna for long distance transmission deployment and Pharos Control Utility to centrally manage all devices.

  • High Durability

WBS is designed with outdoor stabilized enclosure with IP65 (Ingress Protection) waterproof certification, which supports Lightning Protection and ESD Protection.

  • High Availability

300Mbps 2.4GHz/5GHz wireless; cooperates with external directional MIMO antenna. Designed for long distance outdoor WLAN deployment.

  • Long Distance Data Transmission

WBS is specifically designed for long distance outdoor data transmission, and multiple product models are provided for different distance requirement from 30km~50km+.

  • High Reliability

TP-LINK Pharos MAXtream TDMA (Time-Division-Multiple-Access) technology improves product performance in throughput, capacity and latency performance

  • Flexible in Deployment

Passive PoE Adapter supports up to 60 meter (200 feet) Power over Ethernet deployment and allows the device to be reset remotely. Particular PoE Passthrough function allows ETH1 port to provide extra power supply for other device.

  • Powerful Functions

PharOS web based UI management system provides a powerful software function and multiple operation modes: AP, AP Client, Bridge, Repeater, AP Client Router and AP Router. Useful tools include spectrum analysis and transmit power adjustment. All device status: system resource status, signal quality, transmit status, throughput, wireless client status, etc. can be monitored through PharOS in real-time.

  • Convenient Management

Pharos Control is a central management software which is used for controlling all tp-link CPE and WBS products. It provides powerful management tools, including device discovery, status monitoring, batch software update, scheduled mission, warning email, etc. Efficient management in large scale outdoor wireless deployment is also available.
