Objective
This article introduces how to quickly set up the Omada EAP in Standalone mode.
Requirements
- EAP
- PC or mobile phone
Introduction
Omada EAPs provide wireless coverage solutions for small-medium business and households. They can either work independently as standalone APs or be centrally managed by an Omada Controller, providing a flexible, richly-functional but easily configured wireless network.
This article introduces how to quickly set up the Omada EAP in Standalone mode.
For advanced configurations, refer to the User Guide of the EAP. The guide can be found in the download center of our official website:
https://www.tp-link.com/support/download/?type=smb
If you want to set up EAPs and other Omada devices in batch on an Omada Controller, refer to Getting started with an Omada Controller.
Configuration
In Standalone Mode, you can configure and manage your EAPs via the Omada app or a web browser, and each EAP has its own management page.
Set Up the EAP via the Omada App
The Omada App is designed to help you quickly configure common settings. If you want to configure advanced settings, use the EAP’s web page or use Controller Mode.
Step 1. Download and install the TP-Link Omada App from the App Store or Google Play or by scanning the QR code below.
Step 2. Connect your mobile device to the EAP by using the default SSIDs of the product.
Step 3. Open the Omada App, go to the Standalone Mode page, and wait for the EAP to appear.
Step 4. Tap on each EAP and follow the app instructions to complete the initial setup.
Generally, you need to set up a new username and password for EAP login and management and configure the SSID and password for Wi-Fi connection.
Set Up the EAP via a Web Browser
The EAP’s standalone web page allows you to configure common settings and advanced settings of the EAP.
Note: The EAP’s standalone web page is inaccessible while the EAP is managed by a Controller. To turn the EAP back to Standalone Mode, you can forget the EAP on the controller or reset the EAP.
Step 1. Connect your device to the EAP by using the default SSIDs of the product.
Step 2. Launch a web browser and enter https://tplinkeap.net in the address bar. Use admin for both Username and Password to log in.
If your network doesn’t have a DHCP server, ensure your device is using IP address 192.168.0.X, then enter https://192.168.0.254 instead to access the AP’s web page.
Step 3. Set up a new Username and Password for secure management purpose.
Step 4. Follow the step-by-step web instructions to complete the initial setup.
Generally, you need to configure the SSID and password for Wi-Fi connection.
To configure other EAPs, connect your device to each EAP using the corresponding default SSIDs and repeat the steps above.
Conclusion
Now you have set up the EAP in Standalone mode. You can connect your phones, tablets and laptops to the new Wi-Fi and surf the internet.
