As you may know, WiFi 6E introduces 6 GHz as a potentially useable band. In our WiFi 6E Deco systems this band is setup by default as a dedicated backhaul. However, if you have 6 GHz compatible client devices and want to make use of this band for those devices this is possible. This FAQ will show you the steps on how to make this change.

Step 1: Open the Deco App

On your mobile device open your Deco app

Step 2: Tap on More

Once the app is open, tap on the more button to bring up the advanced options.

Step 3: Tap on Wi-Fi

In this advanced options menu, tap on Wi-Fi.

Step 4: Tap on 6 GHz

Tap on the option for 6 GHz. Note: it will show the current status. By default, it will be Dedicated Backhaul.

Step 5: Choose Wi-Fi Network

If your plan is to change WiFi 6 to a usable network, tap on Wi-Fi Network.

Step 6: Setup the 6 GHz network settings.

After you have selected Wi-Fi Network you will be able to configure network settings like the SSID, Password and Security. You can also choose to hide the broadcast the network name.

Step 7: Click on save to complete the changes.

Once you have made your changes and are satisfied you will want to click on ‘Save’.

Once you have saved the settings your 6 GHz devices should see the 6 GHz band in your available network list.
