Firmware

A firmware update can resolve issues that the previous firmware version may have and improve its current performance.

To Upgrade

IMPORTANT: To prevent upgrade failures, please read the following before proceeding with the upgrade process

  • Please upgrade firmware from the local TP-Link official website of the purchase location for your TP-Link device, otherwise it will be against the warranty. Please click here to change site if necessary.
  • Please verify the hardware version of your device for the firmware version. Wrong firmware upgrade may damage your device and void the warranty. (Normally V1.x=V1)

  • Do NOT turn off the power during the upgrade process, as it may cause permanent damage to the product.
  • To avoid wireless disconnect issue during firmware upgrade process, it's recommended to upload firmware with wired connection unless there is no LAN/Ethernet port on your TP-Link device.
  • It's recommended that users stop all Internet applications on the computer, or simply disconnect Internet line from the device before the upgrade.
  • Use decompression software such as WinZIP or WinRAR to extract the file you download before the upgrade.

Bug Fixed:

1. Fixed the bug that when we change the IP in standalone mode, the portal authentication page may not pop up successfully.

2. Fixed the bug that the wireless clients may not be redirected to portal authentication page by surfing HTTPS website if we enable Management VLAN function.

3. Fixed the bug that we may fail to change the configuration of portal function in standalone mode, if we uncheck Term of Use function in portal configuration page.

New Features/Improvements:

1. Add Band Steering/LED Locate/Client rate limit/SSID rate limit Function in Standalone mode.

2. The SSID isolation function is promoted to the Guest Network Function. Wireless Clients connected with Guest SSID can’t communicate with each other and the local network.

3. UI optimization.

4. Change the HTTP port of Portal authentication page from 80 to 22080 in standalone mode.

5. Omada EAP still broadcast SSID after entering the isolated state in the factory state.

 

 Bug Fixed:

1. Fixed the bug that HTTPS redirection of Portal authentication page will be inoperative when Omada Controller and Omada EAP belong to different subnet.

2. Fixed the bug that HTTPS redirection of Portal authentication page will be inoperative when the IP address of Omada EAP and wireless clients belong to different subnet.

3. Fixed the bug that rate limit function of Portal may not take effect sometimes.

4. Fixed the bug that clicking Save button of Mac Filter Association function under Firefox browser will come up “The connection was reset” error.

1. Add support for Mesh networking which allows you to deploy EAP wirelessly.
2. Add support for Fast Roaming (802.11k/v) which can improve user experience when roaming between the EAPs.

Notes:
1. For EAP225-Outdoor_v1 only.
2. Mesh networking can only be used after the EAP is managed by Omada Controller 2.7.0 or higher version.
3. Mesh networking can only be used after upgraded your EAP to this or later firmware.
4. Fast Roaming requires that wireless clients support 802.11k/v to take effect.
5. If you managed EAP by Omada Controller, you can't manage this EAP by Web management page, unless you have reset the EAP.
6. Your device's configuration won't be lost after upgrading.
