How to configure Getting Time from NTP Server on TP-Link Smart & Managed Switch?
Introduction:
NTP (Network Time Protocol), a means of synchronizing clocks over the internet, is supported on TP-Link Smart/Managed Switches. After you configure the NTP feature, the switch can get time from an NTP server automatically.
Configuration:
Step 1: IP Configuration
Configure IP parameters of the switch to make sure that the switch can access the internet. Here we assume that your switch can obtain IP parameters from a DHCP server on the network. If your switch has access to the internet, you can go to Step 2 directly.
1) Choose the menu L3 FEATURES > Interface to load the following page.
2) In the Interface Config section, click Edit IPv4 in the Operation column of VLAN1 to load the following page. Specify the IP address mode as DHCP. Click Apply. Then click Back to return to the Interface page.
Step 2: Time Configuration
1) Choose the menu SYSTEM > System Info > System Time to load the following page. In the Time Config section, select Get Time from NTP Server. Select the time zone from the drop-down list according to your actual location. Enter the IP address of primary NTP server and secondary NTP server. Once the primary NTP server is down, the switch can get system time from the secondary NTP server. You can keep the IP address of primary NTP server and secondary NTP server as default. Specify the update rate. The update rate is the interval the switch fetching time from an NTP server. Click Apply.
2) If the following window pops up, the switch gets time from the NTP server successfully. Click OK to return to the System Time page. In the Time Info section, you can check the current system time.
