Today's World is becoming more and more network based, between people, companies, and nations through the Internet; the World is growing smaller with each passing day. TP-LINK's products are helping to facilitate this change to bring the World closer together through our networking technologies.
I want to use the Internet on my PDA and laptop around the house...
First make sure that you have a wireless internet connection ( WiFi) . There are many different mobile devices such as PDAs and laptops, and most of the time they support WiFi which means you don't need to buy a wireless adapter to enable their wireless functions. If unfortunately your laptop or PC doesn't have an internal wireless adapter, you can purchase one like TP-LINK's TL-WN321G or TL-WN620G. If you have connected all of the necessary hardware, follow the prompts on your PDA or laptop to setup your wireless Internet connection.
I want to share files wirelessly with the other computers in my office...A network with the ability to share files is called a LAN (local area network). To set up a LAN first, make sure the computers in your office are all equipped with wireless adapters; if they are all already equipped then setting up a LAN is relatively easy. You will need an Access Point or wireless router that both emit wireless signals which are received by your wireless adapters on your computers. Once your wireless devices are all "talking" you can build a wireless LAN in your house that all computers within the wireless scope can access.
If your computers are not all equipped with wireless adapters, don't worry, you can still use a wireless router to build up a hybrid LAN using both wired and wireless connections. TP-Link's wireless routers provide 4 ports for cable connections to LAN, and at same time emit a wireless signal which your wireless adapters can receive. In this solution, all computers can access LAN and share files whether they are connected to the router with cables or wirelessly.
I want to use one printer with all of the computers in my office...
Traditionally one printer can only serve one computer with the rest of your computers dependant on that one to do all the printing, a print server can solve this problem. The print server determines the printing queue that is most efficient. TP-LINK provides you wireless and wired print servers for your office environment. All you need to do is make sure that the computers in your office are connected to a LAN, and connect the print server with both your printer and LAN.
Wireless internet connection
The first step in setting up a wireless Internet connection is to contact an ISP to get Internet service.
If you do not have anything except Internet service, you have an IP given by your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and a network connection (phone line, FTTx, etc).In order to connect to the Internet you need an access device such as an ADSL modem, which is generally provided by your ISP but not always (TP-Link has ADSL modems in the event that you do not have one such as the: TD-8610). Using a WAN cable, you can connect your ADSL modem directly to your computer for Internet access, but this will only provide you with one connection. In order to get wireless Internet access and setup a wireless network, you will need a Wireless router or access point such as TP-Link's TL-WR642G or TL-WA601G. (If you require both an ADSL modem and Wireless router, you can look at TP-Link's 3-in-1 option such as the TD-W8920G)
- You should now have an IP address given to you by your ISP and a network connector (ADSL) to the Internet. Connect your access point or wireless router to this connector, and follow the setup wizard instructions to construct your wireless Internet connection.
- Second option: Some locations have Wireless Internet (WISP) readily available throughout a certain region. If you have subscribed to this service you will require an access point and wireless adapter if necessary.
