How do I upgrade the firmware for my TD-W8901G with Turkish firmware

This emergency update is for:
The user who is using TD-W8901G with Turkish firmware (080925 Rel.56636) and who can’t access the Internet.

NOTE: the current firmware (version 080925) in the modem is secured and functional, but it has an inconvenient setting: the modem won’t allow the users to access the Internet unless they enable the wireless security. We can temporarily enable wireless security to fix this problem, or upgrade the new Turkish firmware for completely eliminating this inconvenience. More details about upgrade can be found at optional solution.

Before we enable the wireless security on the modem, please firstly refer to the following procedures to reset the modem:

Step 1 Turn off the modem (pull the power out of the unit).
Step 2 Press and hold the reset button on the rear panel with a pin, while holding down the reset button turn on the modem (plug the power back into the unit). It is important that you continue to hold down the reset button for approximately 15 seconds.
Step 3 Release the reset button and wait for the modem to reboot.

For the user who is using wireless connection only:

Please use your computer to detect the wireless SSID of your modem, and then connect to it. The default SSID of the modem with this specific firmware (version 080925) is “ttnet”.

After you connected to the wireless network, please go to the step1 below.

For the user who is using Ethernet cable and wireless connection:

Step 1 Open the web browser and type the 192.168.1.1 in the address bar, and then press Enter.

Note: if you can not access 192.168.1.1, please check the IP address of your computer or reconfigure the IP address of your computer.

Step 2 Type the username and password in the login page, the default username and password are both admin.

Step 3 Click on Hızlı Başlat and go through it, it will lead you to create your Internet connection. Please do enable the wireless security in the procedures. More details can be found at How to configure PPPoE connection on TD-W8901G;

Step 4 After the modem reboot, please go to the setup page of the modem again and check the Durum page. If the modem has already obtained the IP address from your ISP like the images shown below, that means you already have Internet access. Now you can try going to any website, e.g. www.tp-link.com

Optional solution:

Step 1 Please go to TP-Link website and download the latest Turkish firmware for TD-W8901G, and then extract the files to a folder;

Step 2 In the setup page of the modem, click on Bakım-> Yazılım, and click Browse to locate the firmware file, then click Güncellestirme to start the upgrade procedure.

Step 3 Wait for the upgrade completed and the modem will reboot.

Note:

1. DO NOT upgrade over wireless connection, it may cause failure to upgrade and damage the modem.

2. Make certain that the power supply is stable and can not be cut off during the upgrade.
