Before we start, we need to make sure that you have TP-LINK cloud account. If you don’t have one, please see How to create a Cloud Account for my TP-LINK Smart Plug in Kasa to allow Kasa to control it remotely?

Step 1: Log in to your account in Kasa

Log in to Kasa using your Kasa account. Make sure your account is verified and all your smart devices are saved to your account.

You can check that you’re logged in by tapping the hamburger menu in your Kasa App. You should see your account email if you’re logged in.

Log in to Kasa

Step 2: Enable Remote Control for all devices

You need to enable Remote Control in Kasa.

Go to each device that you’d like to control with Alexa and tap the settings icon. Make sure Remote Control is enabled for that device.

Enable Remote Control

Step 3: Set up device names

It’s better to use unique names such as “Bedroom Lamp” or "Aquarium". This will help Alexa identify your devices better.

An example that may not work very well is to name your devices "Lamp1", "Lamp2", etc. Using numbers or words that sound too similar is not ideal.

Set up device name

Step 4: Go to "Smart Home" section of your Alexa app

In the Alexa app, Use the hamburger menu icon to go into Smart Home page.

Open Alexa app

Step 5: Tap on “Get More Smart Home Skills” in your Smart Home page

Go to Smart Home Skill

Step 6: Search "Kasa" in the search bar to enable the Kasa skill

Enable Kasa skill

Step 7: Sign in to your Kasa account

Enter your Kasa account information (the one you use in the Kasa app) in the pop up window and tap “Authorize”.

Once your accounts have been successfully linked, you should see a success screen. You can go ahead and close the popup.

Connect to Kasa account

Step 8: Discover your devices in Alexa

Tap on “Discover devices” in the pop up window to find and control your Kasa devices.

Discover devices through popup

If you don’t see a pop up window, you can also find “Discover devices” in your Alexa Smart Home page.

Step 9: All done!

Alexa will take a few seconds to discover your devices.

Once it's done, you should see all your remote control-enabled deviced in your Smart Home page.

Done

Now you can start controlling your devices using Alexa!
